Car Soundproofing & Insulation

Here is our general 2 stage process we recommend for most standard cars. This process will reduce overall road noise, insulate the vehicle and improve the audio performance too. Stage 1 is essential for reducing road noise and improving audio, the other products are optional extras to add more luxury.

Stage 1) Treat the metal body panels with a sound deadening such as Dodo Mat DEADN to reduce panel resonance and body boom.
Use on all metal panels up to 50% coverage for most cost effective results, or 100% for a fully comprehensive install. This product can be used on any metal panel in your vehicle, with the most common areas to treat being the floors, doors, sides, wheel arches, roof and bulkhead.

Stage 2) Floor; Install a noise barrier. Use these products straight over the sound deadening you have just applied. These tackle airbourne noise that is not directly affected by the body panels.

The Floor, Footwells & Boot all benefit from a barrier treatment to block unwanted noise intrusion into the cabin from outside. 100% coverage is recommended for the affected areas. Use these products to treat the boot and cabin floor to help block road, exhaust noise and tyre roar.

For the sides & roof use a lighter closed cell foam treatment. Closed cell foam means that the foam remains water resistant, with excellent thermal and acoustic properties ideal to reduce noise, insulate the vehicle and to isolate barriers and trim panels.

For the ultimate in "quiet" doors and superb audio performance you can also use an open-cell acoustic foam on the rear of the door card. This will absorb wind/road noise and provide enhanced acoustics in the door for the stereo speakers.
